I have a B.S. in Communications and a Minor in Photography. I have spent fifteen years as a photographer and I absolutely enjoy the creative process. I also have an M.B.A. and I worked as a business manager before my accident.
Like all of us, our lives change and sometimes that change is sudden and dramatic. I was in a car accident several years ago, and when I was nearly recovered from the accident and looking forward to returning to work, I started to experience periodic loss of consciousness episodes for extended periods of time. This problem has evolved over time to include a significant seizure component. What I can recall while I am "floating" in this unconscious state are flashes and swirls of moving color and light that are fixed as images in my mind. These images give me the inspiration to paint these pieces and to share them with you, hence the "The Unconscious Artist". I try to capture the moving colors that are so strong and bold. I find the colors thought provoking, and powerful. They have an organic nature to them, and with the movement I also see balance. With these episodes, I sometimes fall and have injured myself repeatedly. When I am resting and recovering from these secondary injuries, I tend to paint the watercolors, which is something I can do in bed. I have been blessed with being ambidextrous my whole life and all of my paintings have been painted using both of my hands. Often when I am coming out of these unconscious moments, I can't seem to feel much of my right side. This does make painting and performing much of life's daily routine a challenge.
I have spent many years with a paint brush in my hand, and teaching others, and these works mean more to me than anything else I have ever accomplished in my whole life. They fascinate me and I spend hours pouring over them and nurturing them into their final state. I love my Great Dane dogs. I am an accomplished photographer, cook, gardener, poet and story writer.

Fox Valley Heart Foundation at the Paramount Theater - Aurora, IL February 2012
ENTITLED: "All the Love a Heart Can Hold" - Donated several pieces from this collections dedicated to my husband for all the love and support for has building my studio, hauling my huge pieces of art and really pushed me to keep pushing me through the pain and the fog of my brain injury. He has just been such a daily inspiration. I was also invited to show several other pieces for this exhibit that will be shown for the entire month of February at the Paramount.
