I guess this speaks for itself in a way. But this was a bad seizure and my family thought they had lost me. Well, I was with a few friends. They helped me find my way back. I was in fact, as I recall, with my grandmothers, who told me "it wasn't my time yet". I felt their gentle push and back into my husbands arms I was. Sometimes the truth is harder to believe than fiction! This painting is a glistening golden depiction of golden angels wings. A representation of that moment.

Not a great moment for me.....my blood pressure had dropped to a very low level and somehow when I had come out of the seizure, my body had felt so drained that I knew how close I had come. I was left with this impression of my heart slowing down. My life drifting away. And that wasn't a bad thing. That there was a force that was surrounding me and guiding me through. I wasn't scared. It was just another experience of life.

Each episode is very different than the last. What I actually share in the paintings is only a glimpse. The seizures can last as long as thirty minutes of periods of unconsciousness. So, I am only sharing one moment within that time. One impression that is so deep that I must paint it. And each time, it is so different. Sometimes it is swirling colors, sometimes it is a fog of color. This time it was a very neat and laid out abstract and bright yellow.

This painting looks like feathers in a way. It is comprised of purples, pinks, yellows, golds, oranges, and turquoise. This has a free-flow property that is very appealing. It glistens and dances with light. It was wonderful to paint and makes a room really sparkle.

This was an episode that I saw these images of dancing electric like petals that kept feeding into a center. It seemed poetic. Everyone who sees this, says it is a flower. Well, it then is a flower! I very abstract flower, at that. It is bright and happy. I hope that somehow that these painting help my family understand that when I have a seizure that my brain is in a colorful and peaceful place, even if my body is doing some strange things. And that I will be in a wonderful colorful place, and peaceful place when I pass.

I have about two episodes a week. Each time I am left with an impression of color swirling. Sometimes these are brilliant colors and sometimes like in this painting; they are not always so bright. I like the movement and how it is overlapped with "bubbles" that change in my mind.

I got this very vivid image when I fell from a stool in my closet with one of my unconscious episodes. I had a cut on my head when I awoke which generated this brilliant image. I thought the vision would have been more red because of the blood. It was just so bright. This took several months for me to consider it complete.

I love to paint in a larger format. This is a vortex of blue that reappears for me. It is a balance of chaos and control. A balance of powerful colors and and simplicity. For me there is form, movement and composition that makes this painting work. I really enjoy looking at this painting and how it makes me feel.

Pulling me back into consciousness there seems to be some sort of power that brings me home. I often think of this as my angels that are protecting me and guiding me. It has a force though that may not be as gentle as most would dream about. In some ways, it is like being re-born. Each time I awake, I feel so blessed that I am back with my family and those that love me. This is a hard process for us all.

I had a particularly long spell and had a vision of reds, yellows and a sense of warmth, all swirling around me. It was this deep feeling of passion. The dark brown in this painting is what weights it down and balances the strong bold yellows and reds.

There is a symmetry to this painting if you look closely. It has a mirror effect and the shapes mimic each other. They dance together. Movement of these colors is important. They are not typical colors that you will find placed together and that is what gives it its' power.

This was created with gold leaf. It has a dimension that is hard to describe. It is interesting to sit in different positions and see this from different angles. The flecks of gold bring out different colors and it is almost a feeling of waves of gold splashing on you.

This painting is about our essence. That core of energy that burns, bold and clear. This was not the light at the end of the tunnel as some of my friends have thought of it. But you could interpret it as you see fit. To me each of us hold a power inside of us. I have had a vision of my own core energy and this is how I represent it in a painting.

One of my friends loves this piece. I sometimes recall blurred or foggy colors that blend together in ways that are not easy to describe. I like the order yet complexity of some of my other paintings more than this one. But this one always draws me in when I see it. There is a feeling of hope somewhere in there. It reminds me of of the smell of baking cookies.

I have tried and tried to create movement in my paintings and capture the swirling effect that I see in my visions, when I am unconscious. This is actually quite an interesting effect. It deviates from the paintings that I have spent hours and months on. And in some way, I don't know if it qualifies as "art", but it still is a vision that I am able to express. I used bright colors, metallic paints, and even a little glow-in-the-dark. It is unusual and I will probably make a series like this.
